G.T.S Athletics Day
Today our school had a Athletic Day. We did everything in our four house colours. Red, Yellow, Green, Blue. I was in Yellow. In the first block we had running races. The second block was supposed to be full of activities. Our group finished a water activity, then we started tug war. We didn't end up finishing tug of war because it started raining. The school went to the school hall to do zumba. In the last block was parent, student and teacher relays.
And that was our school's Athletics Day.

My 999 times tables
One of my favourite things in maths is my 999 times tables. Once you learn them they become very, very easy and fun. Though sometimes it can be challenging learning them!.

The War
Today for writing we wrote a recount as if we were someone from the war. In my story I chose one of the characters and made them into a girl because I didn't really like the idea of me as a boy. Something I found challenging was trying to use my 5 senses and use paragraphs for my different ideas. Hope you enjoy!.

Cottage In The Woods
Cottage in the woods
There was once a girl called Julia who was kind, fair and always jolly and joyful. Her mother was just like her daughter. One day Julia mother fell very ill they were very poor and the next village was miles away. Julia had no choice but to search for the right cure. Her mother gave her the details of what to find and to be back by sunrise. By the state of Julia’s mother she looked like she would only live another few days. So Julia set of thinking of only her poor mother and how to cure her. After a while the sun was setting. Julia was so tired that she had to have a rest but by the time she woke up it was dark. Oh no thought Julia. Julia of course Julia knew the way but with darkness like that she could get know were. Meanwhile at home Julia’s mother was worried sick. In the morning Julia carried on with her journey somewhere I must have took a wrong turn because I don’t know this part of the forest. Soon she came to a clearing and there was the most beautiful big house. It had a massive garden and was like a park. It had everything that you need. Julia knew it was rude to intrude but there was something dragging her to it. She went inside. The house was like a castle in the basement there was bottles of everything you could imagine. Julia found the cure for her mother she took the bottle and then there appeared a new bottle. An enchanted cottage fancy that. Julia imagined a bottle of water and there it was in front of her. She went out of the basement and there was a note addressed to Julia…
Oh my gosh said Julia. Don’t go anywhere or let anyone in, she said to the house. It did a sort of nod and muttered yes mam’. I will be back. She started running home. In the house her mum was lying down looking dead. Oh no oh no oh no cried Julia. Julia’s mother put her head up a little and said faintly, Julia.
You're alive cried Julia. Julia half dragged half carried her mother to the cottage. What going on whispered her mother. Julia ignored her. She got to the house and shouted I am home to the house. Hello mam’ happy you’re back shouted back. Julia went inside with mother and laid her on the floor. Julia went to the basement and got the bottle. She ran back and gave the bottle to her mother. At first Julia’s mother did nothing and Julia started to cry. Then her mother twitched and started to rise from the floor and all of a sudden she was as lively as ever. Where are we Julia. So Julia told the story of what had happened. All Julia’s mother could do is gasp at the story. When she finished she said to the house well hello there cottage. Hello my mam’ he said back. Oh my said Julia’s mother. See I told you Julia said. Now you can live here forever mam’s said the house. Very well said Julia’s mother. So the house, Julia and Julia’s mother lived happily ever after.

Maritime Museum Trip
On Tuesday the 15th of August we had a trip to maritime Museum. We went to the museum because of our Inquiry topic, changing landscapes. The day was a really fun and I'm glad I went. First I went through the Pacific and the English section. It showed you all the boats they used back in the old days. Also I learned about a new person I didn't even know existed. His name was Sir Peter Blake. I went through a whole section in dedication to him. I went up a flight of stairs and there was the Americas cup!. At first I thought it was a joke but it was actually in the museum. There were lots of the other things I want to share but it would take me FOREVER. I would recommend it because I had lots of fun. Here are some pictures.

Glen Taylor School
Every Monday the middles (and sometimes the seniors) all gather on the court for Karakia. But one time the teachers said that we had to make the initials for our school. Which is obviously G.T.S. I'm the second to last on the end of the 'S'. We took the photo with the drone that Mr Shanks (my teacher) owns but it's also the schools.

Hi I am Sophie...
Hi my name is Sophie I go to Glen Taylor School. I am 9 years and I am a year 4. I have 1 sister and a step brother. Someone I admire is my mum and my step dad because the teach me new things every day.
I like reading and writing but maths is not my favorite. A challenge is for me this year is the challenges Mr Shanks our teacher sets up for us on google drawing. One of my goals this year is to improve at my maths. Something I really like doing is drawing at home and at school.
What I am looking forward to this year is taking my Chromebook home. I am looking forward to sharing new stuff on my blog.
